Chargers to face McElroy, not Tim Tebow - Tom Krasovic
The Jets, whose offense ranges from inept to mediocre, will have Greg McElroy make his first NFL start on Sunday against the visiting Bolts. Ryan passed over Tim Tebow, the No. 2 quarterback, in choosing McElroy to replaces a mistake-prone Mark Sanchez, who had five turnovers in the Jets’ 14-10 loss at Tennessee on Monday.
Floyd, Wells, Mathews to IR; Willie and Scafe Signed - Ricky Henne
The Chargers made a bevy of moves on Tuesday, placing wide receiver Malcom Floyd, right tackle Reggie Wells and running back Ryan Mathews on the reserve-injured list. In corresponding moves, the team signed wide receiver Mike Willie and defensive end Damik Scafe off the practice squad to the active 53-man roster.
Scouting Report: Chargers vs. Jets - Ricky Henne
Philip Rivers leads a Chargers offense that features future Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates, who has hauled in 45 passes for 479 yards and five scores. With Ryan Mathews’ breaking his clavicle, the team will employ a running back by committee out of the backfield. Mathews leads the team with 184 carries for 707 yards.
Chargers rotate roster - Bill Williamson
The Chargers put running back Ryan Mathews (collarbone), receiver Malcom Floyd (ankle), and tackle Reggie Wells (ankle/toe) on the injured reserve. Receiver Mike Willie and defensive end Damik Scafe were promoted from the practice squad. There is still an opening on the 53-man roster.
ReFo: Panthers @ Chargers, Week 15 - Michael Renner
The Chargers’ offensive line didn’t play as bad as the six sacks might lead you to believe. At least one sack was on Rivers, and there were only six other pressures the whole game. That being said, the sacks that were allowed came at inopportune times. Those sacks led to four forced fumbles on Rivers, and had him far off his game.
PFF 'Had a Bad Day' Team of Week 15 - Khaled Elsayed
Spikes gave up a touchdown in coverage, but it was his problems in the run game that landed him on this team. Similarly Riley, who missed a tackle, found himself having issues in this area.
Week 15 Quick Reads - Vince Verhei
Rivers had — seriously — five first downs. Three of them, including his touchdown, came when the Chargers were down by at least 24 points in the fourth quarter. On second downs, he went 4-of-7 for 20 yards with no first downs and two sacks.
