Kendall Reyes
What we saw against the Steelers was what the San Diego Chargers can do with a dominant defensive line. The line became dominant immediately after an injury to Vaughn Martin, which pushed rookie sensation Kendall Reyes into the starting Defensive End position opposing sophomore sensation Corey Liuget.
With Martin being placed on IR earlier this week, Reyes will once again get a chance to team with Liuget, Aubrayo Franklin and Cam Thomas in hopes of dominating the line of scrimmage yet again. There's more reasons to believe that they will be able to do this than there are reasons to believe that they won't.
The Month of December
Norv Turner and Philip Rivers have been a formidable pair in the month of December. Rivers plays his best football in the month of December and, last year's Lions game aside, the team is nearly unbeatable in its final 4 games of each season. That gives Chargers fans real reason to believe that the 3 TD and zero turnover performance Rivers put together in Pittsburgh can continue on through the rest of the season.
The Panthers Are Kind of Terrible
Tough schedule aside, the Panthers are a 4-9 team. They haven't finished a season with a winning record since 2008, and their 2nd year Head Coach is expected to get fired at the end of the season. You can not clearly state the the Panthers are any better than the San Diego Chargers because there's no real proof that is true. In cases like these, where the teams appear (on paper) to be evenly matched, the deciding factor typically ends up being home field advantage. With the game being played in San Diego, that gives the Chargers a good chance to come out the victor.
