Von Miller
Yeah, the kid's back to his old tricks. 9 games into his second season, the Denver Broncos OLB/DE has 10 sacks. That includes 4 in his last 2 games. Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers each had a sack of Cam Newton last week as well, but the key is Von Miller. If you stand a chance at throwing against the Broncos, you need to dedicate two guys to try and stop him.
The Chargers haven't been great at stopping any pass rushers that aren't on the Chiefs this season, and they let Miller get to Philip Rivers once in the previous game. Expect more of the same.
Peyton Manning
I have no idea why teams are so afraid to say when players are also coaches, but Peyton Manning is his own Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach. He has been for at least a decade and he is in Denver. He doesn't just run the plays, he coaches the offensive line, the receivers, the tight ends and he works as the entire team's leader.
This is a team that won the division last season without Manning, yet he's the unquestioned leader and most important player on the team. That's an amazing thing. It's not often that people are recognized as "legends in their own time", but Peyton is definitely that.
Peyton hasn't had a game with a QB Rating of less than 100 since Week 3 against the Texans. If you count those first three weeks as "knocking off the rust after a year off", Peyton has thrown 16 TDs against 3 interceptions. He's officially back at Pro Bowl/Elite QB level and the Chargers don't have the secondary or pass rush to slow him down.
Turnovers
Remember before the last game between these two teams when I said that the Chargers needed to target Joe Mays and then they didn't? That's not an option anymore because Joe is on injured-reserve. In fact, so are a lot of Broncos defensive players. Yet, somehow, their defense just keeps getting better each week under Jack Del Rio.
The Broncos defense has forced 11 turnovers in their last 5 games. That's high. The Chargers offense has turned the ball over 13 times in their last 5 games. That's higher. What are the chances that the week the Chargers stop making mistakes on offense is also the week that the Broncos stop forcing turnovers? Not great.
