Absurdly premature 2012 playoff picture: Week 5 - MJD
As for the Chargers and Broncos, after Monday night, much of the guesswork goes out of things. My current position, as it's been since about Week 1, is that the Broncos are the better team. They didn't look it against New England, but San Diego isn't New England. I think they'll be able to throw on the Chargers secondary, and yes, the Chargers have done well historically against Peyton Manning, but I think the statute of limitations on that has expired.

Terry Bradshaw didn’t like how Drew Brees celebrated his record-breaking TD - MJD
"I was a little upset that he went to the NFL to get Payton and everybody back to watch him break a record," Bradshaw said. "I'm like, 'Are you kidding me?' I never would have gone and asked for them back … I thought it was disrespectful to the San Diego Chargers … So break it, go ahead. Hell, you're throwing it 50 times a game … I'm just against stuff like that. I just don't believe in doing stuff like that."

Chargers get good news on injury front - Michael Gehlken (UT$)
The left tackle suffered a strained groin on the third to last play of the game against the Saints, coach Norv Turner said Monday. Gaither is dealing with soreness, but there was no muscle tear.

Peyton Manning doesn't give Chargers respect - Kevin Acee (UT$)
"His arm strength looks the same to me," Smith said. "Manning is one of the greatest field generals in NFL history. He has had multiple neck operations, but he didn’t hurt his great football mind. Manning is totally healthy and ready to roll."

Floyd takes pride in his reliability - Scott Bair
"My only focus is on being reliable. If I'm in the right spot at the right time, Philip will get me the ball. I don't want to fail him or fail my team by not doing the right things to prepare and be ready to make plays. That's just my style, to stay the same every day. It's what I think my team needs."

Manning Says Chargers D will be "Tough Test" - Ricky Henne
"He looks awfully good to me," said Turner. "People can start that debate all they want but he knows how to play the position. He knows how to move the football and who to throw it to. You don’t get style points in this league for spirals or how hard or far the ball goes. You get points by putting drives together and scoring points."

One guy to watch - Bill Williamson
Ingram is playing well but he was called for a huge roughing-the-passer penalty at New Orleans on a play that nullified a touchdown that would have given the Chargers a 17-point lead. Instead, the penalty sparked the Saints, who scored the final 17 points of the game. Ingram can’t be gun-shy when he has a chance to bring down Peyton Manning right after his colossal penalty. It will be interesting to see how the rookie responds.
