The blowout that everyone predicted, with the San Diego Chargers beating the Kansas City Chiefs by 30+ points, didn't exactly come to pass. Actually, it took a rare Chargers defensive turnover to eliminate what seemed like a sure loss or at least overtime for the Bolts. Looking back, they were a missed Ryan Succop FG away from things being much worse.
Once again, three weeks in, Chargers fans are left with a win and no more confidence than last season. Turnovers continue to be this team's bugaboo, and if it wasn't for Matt Cassel hitting Eric Weddle in the chest with a screen pass it would've been the biggest reason for a second straight loss.
Ryan Mathews finished the game with roughly 150 total yards and both of the team's TDs. He has turned himself into the biggest weapon for San Diego's offense.
Quentin Jammer and Jacques Cesaire left the game and could miss next week's game, leaving the team with so little depth on the defensive line that Antonio Garay was moved to DE.
We'll discuss this game further throughout the week, but for right now the Charger should enjoy the win and worry about their very apparent flaws.
