First, real news:
Chargers sign veteran ILB Kevin Bentley.
Secondly, some gloating. Anyone remember me saying yesterday that Kevin Bentley seemed like an excellent fit? No? Well, good thing we keep a record of such things. I'm certain A.J. Smith saw that comment and immediately got Bentley's agent on the phone.
Bentley is working on his 10th year in the league (3 with the Browns, 3 with the Texans, 3 with the Seahawks). His most recent chance to start came when DeMeco Ryans missed half of the season for Houston last season.
In 2010, he collected 52 tackles to go along with an interception, a defended pass and a fumble recovery in 8 starts. Not a superstar by any stretch, but a pretty good backup plan should Stephen Cooper find himself unable to play professional bicep with a detached bicep.
