Well, it's that time. In February, I informed you that creanium and myself would be running the Chargers "Bolt to the Q" 5K and invited you to sign up as well. The proceeds are going towards Marcus McNeill's Mack's Miracles charity that is trying to eliminate childhood obesity.
What's happened since has been pretty amazing. Just about everyone I know: family, friends, other BFTB bloggers, have signed up to participate in one way or another. Many local sports writers, reporters, radio personalities and the like are also running. Although I haven't seen any tweets about it, or bothered to ask anyone about it, I imagine one or two players will join in and jog along with fans as well (How cool would it be to see Richard Goodman run it at full-speed?).
Here's what I'm getting at: I hope you signed up when you had the chance, because the 5K is tomorrow morning and completely sold out (2,500 spots in all). It also looks like it's going to be a blast.
For those that did sign up, and have giant grins on their face right now, I'm going to attempt to be somewhat social. I'll be tweeting as much as I can pre and post-race with my location. If I don't make a run to Foot Locker tomorrow, I'll probably be in a silver shirt and black shorts that have a splatter of white paint on them (because they were my painting shorts before i started this running thing, and yes the silver-and-black thing is why I'm going to try and get to Foot Locker). Anyway, find me pre-race and we'll form a group. Maybe we'll come up with things to do with that group like kidnap Acee and make him write for BFTB, or kidnap Annie...you know, just because.
A few people have asked me about doing a BFTB meetup of sorts post-race, or maybe later in the day during the Padres game. That's a wonderful idea, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend the later-in-the-day event should there be one. However, I'm sure a good amount of planning can go on in the comments below. That being said, I will definitely be enjoying my free-beer-at-8am courtesy of the San Diego Chargers at the end of the 5K and would love to talk about the week-long offseason we're about to dive into. Come find me.
