Chargers Select WR Vincent Brown

Vincent Brown, nicknamed "VJ" (how do you like that) played his home games for the San Diego State Aztecs at Qualcomm Stadium. He was the #1 WR for the 16th best offense in the national and 13th best passing offense. In his Senior season he racked up 1,352 yards which was good for 6th best in the nation and 10 TDs. He averaged nearly 20 yards per completion (19.6).

San Diego State plays a pro-style offense which is similar to the one that Norv Turner runs with the Chargers so he should have no problem getting up to speed on the playbook. He is not a "burner" by any means and he is not going to be the fastest guy on the field. He does, however, run his routes to perfection, has tremendous fundamentals, and really good hands. Additionally, he is a good run blocker and could also contribute on special teams.

The fact that the Chargers liked Brown was a poorly kept secret and I bet they are ecstatic with this. Likewise, Vincent Brown is probably stoked to be a Bolt.

Analysis-wise this is similar other picks, maybe they could have waited and got him later. However, as we all know by now, that's not their style. In the end. they get a guy they like at a position they need depth and that's all the Chargers brass cares about.
