Mouton, like last year's LB pick Donald Butler, played on absolutely terrible defense. This time it was the once vaunted Michigan Wolverines. He's supremely athletic and can run all over the field. This fits with what the Chargers have done with the previous two picks. The defensive line is going to clog and push and take up blockers. Everyone else needs to be fast and agile and get to the ball carriers as quick as possible. Mouton's biggest contribution could be in coverage where scouts saw him having the ability to excel. I also imagine he could be a key guy on kick coverage units for 2012 and beyond.

I'd be lying if I said I love this pick. Going into the draft if you asked me the highest I could see Mouton going it would be the 4th or 5th round. I'm not going to call it a truly bad pick because Mouton has a ton of potential. But, it's definitely a peculiar use of a 2nd round pick.
