San Diego Chargers rookie RB Ryan Mathews will most likely miss Sunday's game in Seattle against the Seahawks with a high ankle sprain. The coaching staff is saying that this is simply a precautionary measure to try and get him healthy for the rest of a long season.
If there was any knocks on Ryan Mathews coming out of college, it was that he had been injury prone at Fresno State and might have trouble staying on the field in the NFL. I'm sure right now that he, and the team, are hoping that him missing a game is not a recurring problem.
However, the beneficiary of this will be Mike Tolbert (who gets his first career start at RB). If ever there was a chance for Tolbert to make a name for himself around the league, this Sunday would be it.
