According to everyone and their damn mothers, the deal between Ryan Mathews and the San Diego Chargers that has been probable for a few days now is finally done. The deal is for five years, $25.65 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
This is perfectly timed, as the large crowd that's expected for the Chargers first open training camp (today at 4pm) will probably get to see Mathews on the field and possibly even getting carries with the first-team depending on how eager/trusting Norv is to get the kid involved.
All of the Chargers draft picks are now signed and, with the exception of their three RFAs who are not yet in camp, this is a headache-free team that's focused on getting ready for the 2010 season.
