At 33, Williams knows his career is on borrowed time
Knees that required in-season and offseason surgery limited him much of 2007, and last year he was hampered by a painful triceps injury.

Williams hid the injury from the public all year. Now, he acknowledges the struggle.

"It was kind of odd working with one arm," he said. "Sometimes I just couldn't get that arm working. Certain blocks, I couldn't take on at times ... I had options to either go get the surgery and miss up to three months or just deal with it. They said most people get the surgery. But based off what we have in this locker room, the opportunity is short. I'm going to go out and give all I got, because you never know."

Safety Gregory makes strong impression on first day in pads
On the team's first practice of training camp in pads, Gregory was seemingly everywhere Sunday. An interception capped a day in which he also swooped in to break up two passes.

Blond ambition
"I've had friends on other teams tell me, 'Yeah, Kassim, they're after you,' " Osgood says. "So I get blindsided. It makes it more fun. I always focused on being a receiver, not a special teams guy. But I've always loved contact. It's a good tension release. Special teams is a huge part of the game.

Chiseled Gates hit the weights
Rehabbing a badly sprained ankle this spring, he figured he might as well work on his upper body. Once he started seeing results (aesthetically as well as in increased strength) he was even more motivated. The result is a leaner, chiseled Gates.

No contract talks, no big deal for Rivers - AFC West - ESPN
It's my opinion that Rivers and the Chargers will eventually strike a deal. He is a winner and he's the face of the franchise. He wants to be a Charger. The Chargers want him to stay. There is no way San Diego is going to let Rivers slip way. Chargers fans, don't worry if this takes a while. The bottom line is Rivers will be the Chargers' quarterback for a long time.
