When I got home from the Giants game last week (at about 10pm), I was still wearing my white LT jersey.  As I mentioned last week, my jersey of choice is the powder-blue 17 but I had let my bodyguard/friend wear it during the game since it's much bigger and the 21 wouldn't have even fit him.  Usually the 21 sits in the closet or my wife throws it on.

Anyways, I got home and, pumped off a dramatic and unlikely day, decided that the jersey was lucky.  I declared that, until proven otherwise, the jersey was not to be washed and was going to be worn during all Chargers games.  Based off of the jersey's performance yesterday (win vs. Eagles, loss for Broncos), I'd say it still has some good juju in it.  An honorary Bolt goes to my lucky Tomlinson jersey for yesterday's victory.

Now, onto the real Bolts & Dolts....

Hello friends.  Look, I made it out of Giants Stadium alive!

I couldn't be happier at this moment.  The first San Diego Chargers game I see in person in years, and it turns into an incredible win that's capped with a late TD that happened right in front of me.  The sun was shinin' on me yesterday.

So now that I've gotten home, "slept it off" and watched the game on television.....let's get to quite possibly the longest edition of "Bolts & Dolts" ever.

I don't think you guys are going to be real happy with me after you read this post.  After looking though the post-game comments, I found myself disagreeing with a lot of you.  In actuality, I should write a post about why certain players are not on the lists below, but that could take forever.

Without further ado, the most controversial episode of Bolts & Dolts.....

I know it won't come as a surprise, but there won't be many "Dolts" after yesterday's game.  It was a well-played game against a weaker opponent, so I'll tone down the positive rhetoric as well.

The one thing that should be noted, though, is that for the first time in a long time the Chargers did not play down to their weaker opponent.  This was a game they knew they should dominate and they did.  With a weak schedule ahead of them, this is a fantastic sign of things to come.

Onto the best and worst from Week 7's win in KC.

So I've given myself 24 hours to get over the emotions of this game, and now I'm ready bestow BFTB awards to the best and worst San Diego Chargers players of the week.

What's funny to me, about this game, is that it was the complete opposite of what we've become used to as Chargers fans.  The team came out fast, clearly winning the first-half, and then were outdone in the second half as the Broncos coaches made better adjustments.  An uncharacteristic game for the Bolts, but with similar results (a close loss).

The Bolts and Dolts are listed after the jump, along with their stats.  Keep in mind that any players left off this list had a good game, it just wasn't a great game or a bad game.

Bolts & Dolts: Miami Dolphins at San Diego Chargers

So my father, who sounded as sick as I was last week, called me up towards the end of Miami Dolphins' first drive to let me know that the sky was falling.  Again an opposing team was showing how easy it was to run on the San Diego Chargers' defense.  Again it looked as though the Chargers were not getting much of a pass-rush.

I said the same thing to him that I roughly outlined in my game preview, that once the Chargers started to score the Dolphins would be forced to abandon the run and the game would be easily won.  I didn't know that the Chargers wouldn't score a touchdown until late in the third quarter, but I believed that eventually Miami would not be able to keep up with the Bolts' offense.

The Chargers deserved to win yesterday's game.  In making up my Bolts & Dolts list, I found plenty of Bolts and not a lot of Dolts.  I think the team played about as well as it could have considering their current health situation.  However, even if Pittsburgh is without Troy Polamalu next week, there are a few players and coaching strategies that need to be improved if the Chargers want to beat a stronger opponent.

More details on all of the above after the jump.

Bolts & Dolts: Baltimore Ravens at San Diego Chargers

Calm down, everybody.  If there is such a thing, this was a good loss.

I see a lot of Chargers fans are piling on Norv Turner and saying that the Sproles draw play on 4th & 2 was a horrible play call.  You're right and you're wrong.  That same play led to an easy game-winning TD last week against the Raiders.  Also, as the announcers were quick to point out, the Ravens were so focused on defending the pass that they had been putting 8 guys back in coverage and rushing only 3.  The play should've worked.  It should've caught the Ravens off guard and been a quick gain of 5 up the middle.  However, Ray Lewis sniffed the play out and made the tackle in the backfield.  The guy is a future Hall of Famer for a reason, and that was it.

Your complete list of Bolts & Dolts is after the jump.

San Diego Chargers' Bolts & Dolts: Week 1

Well that certainly seemed a lot like 2008, didn't it?  The defense didn't show up until the second half, the offense didn't look effective until the fourth quarter, but yet the team manages to squeak out a victory.  It was ugly, it was jarring, but if the San Diego Chargers can come out and win 2 of their next 3 games against Baltimore, Miami and Pittsburgh, we'll forget all about how close the team came to losing this one.

Let's be honest though.  That was not the same Oakland Raiders team we are used to seeing.  With their offensive line pushing people around, and the defense knocking Chargers out of the game with injuries on seemingly every play, that looked more like a Bill Parcells-coached football team.  Give credit to the Raiders and Tom Cable, who may ride that recipe for success to a competitive finish in the AFC West.

I'm expecting a lot of players on both sides of Bolts & Dolts this week.  The entire list, along with stats and analysis, is after the jump.
