Chargers (+4.5) over GIANTS
Phil Rivers, would you like some ketchup or A1 sauce with the Giants' secondary? And how would you like them cooked? Is medium rare good? I'm making this my Underdog Lock of the Week. Chargers 38, Giants 30. By the way, I watched the G-men self-destruct against Philly with my dad last Sunday. At one point he said sadly, "Why didn't we get this Eli for the [Giants-Pats] Super Bowl?" He's still not over it. And neither am

This weeks installment from SDNN.com. Interesting that the Chargers have the advantage in QB. I think the fact that Eli has produced in the playoffs may mean that the comparison is closer to a push.

Also, here are this week's experts picks.

The Chargers are hopeful inside linebacker Kevin Burnett will play against the Giants, but Brandon Siler could work as many or more than the almost-40 snaps he played last week against Oakland.

"I would think it's not a reach," Turner said when asked whether Siler might get his first start in three NFL seasons.

Burnett practiced in a limited fashion for the second straight day, his first two practices since injuring his ankle Oct. 19 against Denver.

"He's better today," Turner said. "He did more than he's done. That's progress. I know we have the ability to go with Siler and Stephen Cooper (the other inside linebacker). And if Burnett can go, that's a plus."

Aaron Rouse will take his place. Rouse was much maligned in Green Bay a couple of years back, but probably not as much as CC Brown (of course it was Green Bay and not New York). The one interesting thing about Rouse is that he's tall. Almost as tall as VJ and Floyd and definitely taller than Gates and Naanee.

Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck have not been dominant. Osi, I think, is not the same player he was a few years ago. Tuck tore his labrum in Week 2 and has been trying to play thru it, but he hasn't been dominant. Inside, Fred Robbins is coming off microcracture knee surgery and isn't what he used to be. The Giants might get Chris Canty back this week, and that has to help some. As for the run defense, here is my thought. robbins is not the player he used to be, same for Antonio Pierce. So, they aren't physically imposing in the middle any more. Also, there has been an astounding lack of discipline, with guys seemingly freelance and not handling their responsibilities. That is very un-Giants like, and very much on the head of the defensive coordinator.

"Rising

Merriman Shawne Merriman, Chargers, linebacker: Merriman had two sacks against Oakland on Sunday, his first two sacks of the season. He struggled to regain his superior pass-rushing skills in the first several games as he came back from a major knee injury. Merriman has improved each week and looks to be at full strength.

Phillips Chargers’ pass rush: Merriman isn’t the only Charger getting his pass-rush groove back. San Diego has had nine sacks in its past two games, after struggling early in the season.

Linebacker Shaun Phillips has four sacks in the past two games. San Diego is getting very creative in its pass-rush schemes, often using safeties on blitzes. The schemes are working and the Chargers are suddenly a sack threat again."

Charger fans in NE Georgia

Charger fans in NE Georgia

I am looking for any Charger fans in the Northeast Georgia area...are there any out there?
I have family coming into town (Lawrenceville Georgia) from Escondido, and if they miss a Charger game I'll never hear the end of it. I'm looking for any fans in the area and possibly a place to go watch the game that has sound going also.
Any one have any ideas?

San Diego running back LA DAINIAN TOMLINSON rushed for 56 yards in the Chargers’ 24-16 win against Oakland. Tomlinson, who now has 12,027 rushing yards in his career, reached the 12,000-yard mark in his 132nd game, the fourth-fastest in NFL history behind Pro Football Hall of Famers JIM BROWN (115 games), ERIC DICKERSON (118) and BARRY SANDERS (125). The NFL’s all-time leading rusher, EMMITT SMITH, accomplished the feat in 133 games and Hall of Famer WALTER PAYTON reached 12,000 yards in his 134th game.
