Here's a bit of good news:
A 2nd opinion on Chargers WR Malcom Floyd's knee revealed no structural damage. Time missed will depend on how he feels.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 14, 2013
I was wondering today how Floyd missing the entire preseason could actually hurt the younger receivers. Keenan Allen gets reps at the #2 WR, suddenly he gets moved back to #3 as the season starts. Vincent Brown gets reps as the #1 WR, suddenly gets moved to the #2 WR spot, where the responsibilities and routes are much different, as the season starts. You get the idea.
This isn't an offense that any of these receivers are familiar with. This is a crucial time for them if they're going to win any games this season.
I'm less worried about that now. If the team holds him out of every preseason game, I'm hopeful that this means that Floyd can at least participate in practice a bit as the #1 WR. Even if it doesn't, two opinions without any bad news is a breath of fresh air for fans of the San Diego Chargers.
