I don't want to rehash all of the changes which have occurred in KC so far - suffice to say I think they will be a much more formidable opponent this year than last. That's all good in terms of returning the AFC West to respectability and providing the level of competition which will toughen up the AFC West teams for post-season competition.
In addition to all those changes/additions, I saw this earlier today:
My take is that they want to integrate more Pistol options into Andy Reid's WCO. On those plays run from the Pistol, it should provide quicker options for Jamaal Charles' running plays and Alex Smith's quick passes. I also think it will provide enough of a change of pace in the game to impact individual defensive plays/schemes. While Alex Smith is not a noted runner, he does run some. In Urban Meyer's spread during his last 2 years he rushed 284 times for 1083 yds (about 3.7 YPC) and 15 TDs. In 2011, his best year in San Francisco he rushed 52 times for 179 yds and 2 TD. So, he isn't Colin Kaepernick, but he is mobile and can get positive yardage. He has shown that he can run this style of play.
