Ok, so the Chargers lose another "must-win" game and yet they are still alive in the playoff race. They have gotten the fan's hopes up and have crushed them as well. Now, what is going through all of our mind's? Probably, you're still mad at the loss and I don't blame you. We should instead think about the future.
Reasons to tank the season
1. The future will look much brighter:
Ok , so we are 5-7, YAY! That's right, I'm happy. The Chargers should be 8-4 or 9-3, heck even 10-2. Yet they lack consistency and the ability to finish off games. That can be attributed to the team's lack of talent, experience, etc. The Chargers do have talent, but they have been nagged by injuries, so with a good free agency and a great draft, we should be a contender next year.
2. We are not that far
The Chargers are really just a good OLB, CB,NT from being a contender. They need more pieces and with tanking, they will be able to get great players with high draft picks. They can even trade down and get more depth, but reality is that they need more pieces in order to be a contender next year.
Reason not to tank the seasno
1. Team needs to learn how to win
This team has dealt with injuries and has impeded them from finishing off games. One reason not to tank would be in order to allow the backups such as: Reggie Walker, Thomas Keiser, etc. to get more playing time, experience, and learn to finish games off. If the backups learn how to win, when the new starters come to town, they will have already progressed much more than they should have.
No fan wants their team to lose, or root for the opposing team. They want to see those powder blue jerseys and smiles all across Philip Rivers' s face. The Chargers should not tank just so they can beat Eli Manning, the most hated player in San Diego.
These are the reason why and why we should not tank the season. I wish you would leave comments so we can make a discussion about this. My personal opinion...
TANK THE SEASON!
