If the Chargers fail, but Philip Rivers has a career year? Should they trade him?

Ok let me make my point before everyone starts to tell how crazy I am. I hate to say this, but the Chargers are not going to be considered a "legitimate" until they as the worst team in the league and get a No. 1 overall draft pick. Now, let me make my point...

If the Chargers were to miss out on the playoffs, but Rivers puts up MVP numbers, if it wasn't for Manning, should he be traded as his value is higher than ever? Let me make my case, Philip Rivers will become a FA after the 2015 season, he will either leave or retire as a Charger. Period. I say that if Philip Rivers tears up the league that we should trade him to a team who has low draft picks, not a ton of talent. They could help us in the future by drafting a "franchise" QB and also give us depth.

If the Chargers have a top 15 pick, which I hope they don't, but if they do. They should trade Philip Rivers, this is coming from one of his biggest fans, but it is the truth. His value would be higher than ever, we would get 2 first round pick and possibly a 2nd and 3rd for him as well. Of course, they would be divided in 2 season draft picks. The point is, if the Chargers trade him, they get another QB with Mike McCoy, who has done a great job with QBs. I just think that if we don't have the talent why make him stay, let's trade him, get draft picks, look towards the future, and hope that it was the right move.

I am very interested in what you guys have to say. NOTE: IF THE CHARGERS FINISH 7-9 OR 8-8, AND HAVE A GOOD DRAFT, WE KEEP HIM. IF WE BOMB THE SEASON LIKE 5-11, 6-10, LET'S LOOK FOR TRADE SUITORS. If there are none, then we keep him and hope he keeps playing like this in his aging career and hope he resigns.
