2014 NFL Mock Draft Week 8 Edition

The Chargers beat the Jaguars in a great fashion. Rivers and company looked in sync and he was on fire all day. The defense was able to get pressure on the QB and record 6 sacks. Still, the defense has holes and they allowed 318 yards to Chad Henne, a QB who would a bench QB in any other team. So, this brings me to our drafts needs... 1st round- The Chargers are in desperate need of pass rush and they should look for a game changer. All of you people who say that D. Freeney will back next year, are right. Yet, can we trust Freeney to stay healthy and not select a LB in one of the deepest LB classes in the last 5 years??? Exactly. You select a LB and you make him learn from Freeney. The Pick: I am in between 2 players... I think the Chargers should be looking at a DT like Louis Nix III, I think that Tom Telesco will make a move in the offseason and get a 2nd round pick in return (*Cough, Ryan Matthews *Cough). Mathews' value will be higher than ever and we will be able to get a 2nd round pick for him. So, the Chargers can select the player they have been looking for in the middle of the defense. A monster in Louis Nix III, you solidify that DT position for the next 10 years. Of course, we would trade up to the 12th spot and give up our 1st and 1 of the 2 2nd round picks. 2nd Round- Again, we should address the defense. I say we do what we did last year, we trade up and get a player who can contribute on the defensive side of the ball. I am thinking that the Chargers select Vic Beasley out of Clemson. This would probably costs us a 4th round pick and possibly a 5th round pick as well. The Pick: I say we select Vic Beasley DE/OLB out of Clemson. This kid has raw skills and his talent could be maximized by learning from Freeney. I had him in my 2nd round, but I feel that he won't make it that far. Vic Beasley, by the way, is the leader in sacks in CFB and is also one of the top players in TFL. He is very underrated and I feel that he will slip to the 2nd round, where the Chargers can trade up and get him.

3rd round- The Chargers have now selected Louis Nix III and Vic Beasley. Now, they can address their O-Line issues, especially at the Guard position. The Chargers can go ahead and select Anthony Steen G out of Alabama. He would be reunited with Fluker and would also bring some experience. He would replace Jeromy Clary on the right side of the O-Line. Please leave your comments below and I will try to answer back!
