At present the San Diego Chargers' roster contains seven wide receivers. Five of them, Vincent Brown, Micheal Spurlock, Malcom Floyd, Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal, are a virtual lock to make the final 53-man roster to start the regular season. Given the injury histories of Floyd and Royal as well as the current injury to Brown, the team almost certainly will carry a sixth wide receiver into the season.
The options for that sixth receiver slot, assuming for argument's sake that they don't sign a free agent following the roster trimming of other teams, will go to one of either Richard Goodman or Mike Willie.
Goodman is a favorite of Norv Turner's and his ridiculous speed makes him one of the team's better deep threats. Some have made the case that he is a superior kick returner when compared to Micheal Spurlock.
Willie is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Arizona State that has shown flashes of brilliance throughout training camp and the preseason.
Both players have their flaws, but we're talking about a sixth receiver here, so that's to be expected. Please let us know in the comments who you would keep and don't forget to vote in the poll.
