Hey guys. Did you realize that the Padres might actually be turning this thing around? I mean, maybe not this year, but their #1 rated minor league system is showing that it might actually be enough to make the team a winner in the future.

Check this out, they have good young talent at Catcher, 1st Base, 2nd Base, Shortstop, 3rd Base, Left Field and Center Field. They also have loads of talented young pitching, but most of it is injured. They're riding a 6 game winning streak at the moment, fueled by kids like Alexi Amarista, Everth Cabrera and Yasmani Grandal. There's genuine discussion about keeping this team together (meaning signing 29 year old Carlos Quentin to a big deal and keeping 28 year old Chase Headley for the remainder of his contract) because they could do some damage if they learn how to stay healthy.

Sure, it's only a 6 game winning streak. Grandal, Amarista and Cabrera all probably have slumps of some sort ahead of them, but (at least) Cabrera and Grandal are not really playing a great deal beyond their potential. Cameron Maybin is having a down year, but a change in his swing recently has him hitting .350 in the last four games. This team is brimming with potential that maybe might just be kind of exploding. Fun, right? Fun.

Maybe pay attention to them. Gaslamp Ball would be your best place to start with that.
