So, I decided to take a break from ranking 11-20 of the Quarterbacks, and pick an all-pro team made up from players in the NFL. I had an extremely hard time choosing my starters, so I decided to chose backups too. Remember all of these players are phenomenal.
QB 1) Aaron Rodgers
Why? I think most of the fans in the NFL would agree with me. He has been so great, and he's not even at his "Prime" yet. He's a great qb, and a great leader. If you would argue with this pick, you are delusional.
QB 2) Drew Brees
No, not Tom Brady, he's getting old. Drew Brees has twice set the single season record for passing yards. He has been playing at a high level for a long time. You can't ask for a more consistent player, or a better guy. He deserves his 100 million dollars.
HB 1) LeSean McCoy
No, not Arian Foster. He has injury problems. LeSean will only miss a game or two at the most each season. He averages 4.8 over his career which is very impressive. He's only been at it for 3 years, and has 3,026 yards. Also, he has great, soft hands. This guy is versatile.
HB 2) Ray Rice
He's a young guy. He pounds defenses. He's a beast, and shows no sign of slowing down. Theres this curse saying that if you have over 300 carries one year, the next year you will have a huge decline. When he had 307 carries in 2010, he had 1220 yards, for a 4.0 average. He also had 63 receptions for 556 yards and 1 TD. The next year he had 291 attempts in 16 GAMES for 1364 yards. A 4.7 average. He also had 76 receptions for 704 yards. His TD's went from 6 total to 15. Yeah, he got better.
HB 3) Darren Sproles
This guy is a monster. He is a great, rare return specialist. He has great hands. He is basically a short receiver who is extremely fast, and can elude tackles. He's been labeled as one of the greatest runners in open space by multiple people. This guy is the great change of pace back, and doesn't get enough credit for it. He accounted for 11 TD's last season with the Saints. That's crazy considering he wasn't the starting back.
WR 1) Calvin Johnson
This guy is really fast. a 4.35 40 yard dash is quick. Very quick. He's also really tall and has great hands. He perfectly fits the mold of a receiver that can line up anywhere on the field and produce. over his 5 seasons, he's averaged 1100 yards. And he's just getting to his prime. 16 TD's is crazy. This guy is talented.
WR 2) Larry Fitzgerald
He's getting older, but seems to be getting better. Last season, he put up a career high average yards per reception. He also had the 2nd most yards he's ever had. He's a great height, at 6'3" and is only 28. He will be playing at a high level for the rest of his 8 year, 120 million dollar contract that he earned. Future hall of famer if he keeps it up for at least 2 more seasons.
WR 3) Wes Welker
Fast guy. Works great with great quarterbacks. No off the field problems. Great leader in the locker room. I would want this guy on my team.
WR 4) Andre Johnson
As of the past 2 seasons, he's had some injury problems. Honestly, I think for this team, he'd be worth the risk because of his tremendous upside. He's got some great height too.
WR 5) Roddy White
He's fast, but a little bit short. He puts up great numbers with a quarterback who is not top 5. This guy is a really good wideout, and could potentially be better.
TE 1) Rob Gronkowski (Gronk)
He flourishes under great quarterbacks. What do we have? Great quarterbacks. He runs a quick 4.6 40 time, and has extremely soft hands. He's really making a name for himself, and will be great for a long time.
TE 2) Jimmy Graham
Why? Same mold as Gronk. Just faster. And he has great chemistry with Drew Brees. This guy and Rob will be the two best TE's in the league, and will always be compared. Who is better? They both are elite. Both of them have elite QB's. We'll have to wait and see how they do without Elite QB's.
TE 3) Antonio Gates
He's slower, and was out of shape last season. He dropped 5 pounds this offseason to prolong his career. He will go down as one of, if not the greatest TE's ever to play the game. He revolutionized the position, has great leadership qualities, and is the man Gronk and Graham modeled themselves after. A few years back he would have been 1st, but he hasn't proven that he is fully healthy. Lets hope his claims of being 100% are true and we have a true elite player.
So that makes up 13 players without my offensive line and fullback(s). Expect the rest of the offense to be posted within the next few days!
