Somebody woke A.J. Smith up today. The San Diego Chargers front office has seemingly been busier today than it has been in the last four months combined. That continued this afternoon with the signing of Running Back (and former Kansas City Chief) Jackie Battle.
Battle came in to visit Chargers Park around the time that the team was still considering signing Mike Tolbert back. Since then, they've signed Jacob Hester, LaRon McClain and Ronnie Brown. As soon as his contract is signed, Battle will be the 9th Running Back or Fullback on the Chargers' roster.
Battle, whose full name is Ewart Haron Battle II (!!!!!), probably tested the free agent market a little too long and will now most-likely be competing against LaRon McClain and Jacob Hester for his roster spot. With only 4 career starts, all last year, Jackie will have to show something in the preseason to make the team.
