Chris Berman's Play-By-Play Career Starts with Chargers vs. Raiders

Stay connected for news and updates

Hey, do you hate hearing this?

Yeah, me too. Not only do the San Diego Chargers get to be the second Monday Night Football game in Week 1, which is annoying because it means they play the last game of the week, but their fans will be subjected to Chris Berman's first attempt as a play-by-play announcer.

Due to the way that Chris Berman loves to say "the Raiders" (see YouTube clip above), this will undoubtedly be a worse experience for fans of the Bolts than it will be for fans of the silver and black. He'll be joined in the booth by former NFL QB Trent Dilfer, who typically does a fine job as a color commentator.

Berman, for all his drawbacks, is a vain professional. He will undoubtedly do his homework and will be knowledgeable about the players and coaches in this game. He might be studying up on it right now, as a matter of fact. The key will be whether or not he can actually pass any of that knowledge along to the viewers in between coming up with nicknames for all 22 starters on each team.
