Brian Banks to the Chargers ( the good, the bad, the ugly)

Brian Banks to the Chargers:

The Bad-

A recent post by John Gennaro on BFTB prompted me to do some research on Brian Banks.
At first I thought , Okay, some guy had a terrible ordeal, and is looking for a second shot.

Brian Banks was convicted of rape in 2002 . He spent 5 years in jail and five years on probation. His accuser " Wanetta Gibson", and her mother received a sum of $1,500,000 from the school where the alleged rape took place.
Although it is unknown if her alleged claim stemmed from anger or greed, the money awarded to her has been spent, at the expense of Brian Banks freedom.

After Banks served his complete jail term, and Gibson spent through the money, she decided to confess it was all a lie. She said she had planned on doing so earlier, however, she was afraid that her confession would make her give the money back to the school, and her stint as a millionaire would be over.

Instead, she spent the money, never paid back one cent , and conveniently admitted that the rape was all bogus after Banks lost 10 years of his life.
To add insult to injury , Wanetta tried to befriend Banks on Facebook by saying " Let bygones be bygones". What a treat she is!

The Good-

Brian Banks is only 26 years old. He plays Linebacker. He's 6'4" 225.
He runs a 4.6 40, squats 500. dead lifts 600 and says he's in the best shape of his life, and posted videos
on youtube to bolster his claim.
He also said he'd love to try out for the Chargers.

The Ugly-

Although this may seem like a Public relations gold mine for any team, the Chargers PR director Bill Johnston released a statement basically saying they will not open their doors to Davis. As surprisingly rude as that would seem for a Personal relations director to tell the media , he followed up with, Nobody has even heard of this guy before this story surfaced"
Well of course you haven't Bill , he's been in jail, and probation, not exactly where scouts normally look.

But Genarro is right, other than the price of some plane tickets and a hotel room, what do the Chargers have to lose? Training camp hasn't even started yet! In fact, it should be at the very least court ordered for Wanetta Gibson to pay those costs, she owes California tax payers anyway!

So what do you think Chargers fans, should the Chargers at least give this guy a chance
