Mailbag: Rookie TE in San Diego - Bill Williamson
I don’t think the Chargers are counting on the fourth-rounder for much more than being a special teamer this season and learning the system. If Green -- who could be the eventual replacement for star Antonio Gates -- can come in and catch 20-30 passes, it would be a bonus. Green has strong receiving skills and the Chargers have an eye on him for the future.

Vegas book places odds on Chargers' schedule - Michael Gehlken
Cantor Gaming released weekly handicaps for every NFL game through Week 16, and the Chargers are considered the favorite in 10 of them, most in the AFC West. Their Sept. 10 season opener in Oakland is a pick 'em.

Chargers to host Cowboys for joint practices - Michael Gehlken
For the second straight year, the Chargers and Cowboys are scheduled to break from the dog days of training camp, facing each other during two days of joint practice. This time, instead of the sweltering South, the workout sessions will be held in San Diego from Aug. 20-21.

Fantasy Football Rankings Reaction: ESPN - Mike Gallagher
I really, really like Ryan Mathews this year. V-Jax is gone and Mike Tolbert isn't around to vulture the eight TDs he had now that he's in Carolina. San Diego's O is going to use him heavily and the Chargers should be able to put up points this year.

San Diego Chargers Offseason Recap - John Gennaro
A.J. Smith very obviously went into this offseason with a good plan and executed it to perfection. He patched the holes, improved the team through free agency, and then added toys to the cabinet of Norv and Pagano through the draft. You really can't ask for anything better than that.

Ten Thousand - Randall Munroe
I try not to make fun of people for admitting they don't know things. If I make fun of people, I train them not to tell me when they have those moments. And I miss out on the fun.

Ryan Leaf Pleads Guilty To Stealing Painkillers, Awaits Sentencing - Kevin McCauley
Because he agreed to plead guilty to two felonies, the second burglary and drug charges were dropped. Cascade County District Judge Kenneth Neill commented on Leaf's need for drug treatment. "There is no question he needs treatment."
