It would appear that, much the same way the gamble paid off with Malcom Floyd last year, the Chargers' gambles on Luis Castillo and Antonio Garay have both paid off. After letting both players test the free agency waters, both have now signed back with the team.
Here's the tweet from Castillo's agent:
Congrats to Luis Castillo re-signing with the @chargers!

The deal is for one year, according to Michael Gehlken.
After missing just 3 games over the 2 previous seasons, Castillo missed all but half of the first game of 2012 after breaking his leg and dealing with a slow recovery.
Luis has been the key to the Chargers defensive line for most of the 7 seasons he has spent in San Diego, and his absence last year was a big reason why Antonio Garay's production went down. That being said, Castillo will have to prove with a good training camp and preseason that he is healthy and should be the starter after Vaughn Martin did a solid job of filling in for him.
