Chargers are doing better in Free Agency than past years. I'm feeling pretty confident right now with our WR situation. We lost 1 really good receiver and signed two good receivers. IF Malcolm Floyd can stay healthy, we have a viable #1 right there, and Robert Meachem and Vincent Brown are supposed to compete for the 2nd starting job. Eddie Royal is supposed to bring up the rear as 4th.
The point is... You know who all of these guys are. They have all made significant impacts on the NFL during their time. Sure, they aren't the sexy free agents, but are very reliable guys that will do more than just get the job done.
We have the exact same offensive line that gave up 1 sack the last 5 games of the season. Resigning Gaither was HUGE.
We lost Steve Gregory today, not sure if that really means anything. We can pick up someone in the 3rd-4th round who will come in and make a bigger impact. Or, we move Jammer.
QB: Elite Starter, might pick up someone in the draft (late rounds) to mold, maybe a Scott Tolzien eske QB. Except we could keep the new guy now.
HB: Big Potential in Starter Ryan Mathews, and in contract talks with Tolbert and Jackie Battle
FB: LeRon McClain is a proven starter, might get Hester Back, might get Tolbert back, and we also have Frank Summers who is ready to start according to Norv.
WR: Really good WR- Malcom Floyd, Big Potential in Vincent Brown, and 2 solid (could be starters in the NFL) WR's in Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal.
TE: Gates and Kory Sperry on the roster. Sperry proved himself this season, but AJ has said he's interested in drafting a big, fast, new TE, to be the next gates.
OLine:Same guys who allowed 1 sack in last 5 games.
Defense- Signed JJ, lost Steve Gregory. Will be around the same next season.
