San Diego Chargers: Firing Norv Turner and the Hunt for a New Head Coach

Stay connected for news and updates

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

We'll be keeping tabs on Norv Turner's final day as Head Coach of the San Diego Chargers, his firing and reports afterward.

According to everyone and everything, Norv Turner will be called to a meeting with Dean Spanos this morning to be officially let go as Head Coach of the San Diego Chargers. He'll then have a chance to address the team, who will be cleaning out their lockers, and presumably the media as well.

This is not last year, where everyone assumes the move is coming but it doesn't. Norv Turner wasn't openly job-hunting or semi-openly tearing down his General Manager before the 2011 season was over. He knew he had at least a chance to stay, and his players (and probably GM) spoke up enough for him to get that chance. This time, there will be no reprieve.

Keep your browser here at BFTB all day for updates on the actual, official firing of Norv, coverage of any press conferences by the Chargers and updates on A.J. Smith's employment status.

Also, with the idea that the Chargers have expressed interest in bringing in a Head Coach who has experience as a Head Coach, I'll try to keep tabs on all of the other Head Coaches around the league that have been fired on "Black Monday". Here's the list so far:
