Chargers Mock Draft

1) We have to take the best available OL - unless some freakish athlete falls to us but doubtful (and as you'll see lots of value at skill at WR in later rounds...

2) Robert Woods WR - Southern Cal - a future 10 year pro, would make a great partner for V. Brown, also consider C. Patterson WR-Tennesse first round talent, only one year of DI ball but talent is there...future all pro. Also Marquez Wilson, WSU WR - this kid was a stud on a terrible team all three years. Sure he quit the team at the end of the year but hopefully any questions re: his head and heart can be cleared up at the combine. Its imperative Chargers snap up one of these three Wr's to pair with Brown and Floyd. Instantly turns a need into a strength. I don't see Alexander re-signing but if he does good luck getting PT with this kind of talent on the roster.

3) Another OL, best available...

4. Jonathan Franklin RB - UCLA...or Monte Ball RB - Wisconsin...it's proven year after year (see Redskins rookie back this year) that good backs can be found in the later rounds of the draft. Even this round might be too high...Mathews needs a workhorse back like Tolbert to share the load — will help keep him fresh and healthy (if he learns to hold onto the ball...)

5.) Desmond Trufant - DB ...can never have enough corners. Sharecee Wright is a player and hopefully he stays healthy next year but Trufant can flat out play. If he turns pro, Nickel Robey from USC - although small, is a great cover corner who tackles well. Should be available rounds. 4-5...Christian Fauria, TE - UCLA....Notre Dame transfer lived up to his hype at UCLA last two years...

6.Khaled Holmes - Center USC...another Trojan I know but four year starter can make an NFL team and contribute. Other guys Shane Sikov (sp.?) LB - Stanford...a probable top 50 pick had to overcome a torn ACL and was just getting his elite skills back...but he might fall due to concerns about his health, decision making.

7. This year's Vontaze Burfict - remember all the Pac-12 homers like myself begging A.J. to grab this freak of nature out of his draft free fall? What happens? Goes undrafted, becomes a starter on the Bengals defense in week 2. Has great rookie year. Like he couldn't have helped the Chargers this year?

FA's...why not take a flier on Kevin Prince...three year UCLA starter, big time arm. Every year poor o-line was to blame for absolute beating he took...might be a real find, stash him on Practice Squad...
