San Diego Chargers (Re-)Sign WR Micheal Spurlock

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

The veteran WR/KR/PR that turned heads in the preseason for the Chargers is back in San Diego once again to bolster as a receiver and a special teams player.

Micheal Spurlock, a Wide Receiver/Kick Returner who started the season as a San Diego Charger and was released to make room for CB Chris Carr, is back in San Diego wearing the blue and gold.

When Spurlock left, he was having a hard time getting on the field at all. Now, the team is looking to add some speed to their receiving group (especially with Robert Meachem riding the bench) and could use a playmaker in the kick return department as well.

After being released by San Diego, Spurlock was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 6 games with them, he caught 14 passes for 121 yards and 1 TD. He also had a kick return average of 19.7 yards and a punt return average of 8.5 yards. I'm not sure what he did to make Jacksonville want to release him, but they did so yesterday and the San Diego Chargers were first in line to put a claim on him.

RB Curtis Brinkley was waived to create a roster spot for Spurlock.
