NFL: Week 4 knee-jerk reactions - ESPN.com staff
The Chargers believe in Mathews, but they want him to be held accountable. He responded to his benching by gaining some tough yards late in the game. Mathews remains a work in progress and the Chargers will push buttons when necessary.

Had a Bad Day Team, Week 4 - Khaled Elsayed
Things we learned this week: Eric Berry should not be left trying to cover Antonio Gates. It did not go well at all as Gates worked separation, earned two penalties and picked up some yards on the former first round pick.

ReFo: Chargers @ Chiefs, Week 4 - Michael Renner
Last season saw right tackle Jeromey Clary (+3.6) put up only three positive performances all year en route to his worst performance since PFF starting grading. If the past two weeks are any indication, he may be in for a superb comeback year.

Week 4 DVOA Ratings - Aaron Schatz
San Diego, which we expected to have a tough schedule, faced the easiest slate of opponents in September.

Week 4 Quick Reads - Vince Verhei
In the first quarter, Rivers was 8-of-10 for 102 yards, with two DPIs for 28 more yards and an intentional grounding for a loss of 13 yards. That's 117 net yards and eight first downs (including a touchdown) in 13 dropbacks. In the rest of the game, he was 10-of-13 for 107 yards, with one DPI, one interception, three sacks, and one fumble. That's 91 net yards and four first downs (including another touchdown) in 17 dropbacks.

Five rookie quarterbacks have not missed a snap in 2012 - Brian McIntyre
The same playing-time percentages are not found at the cornerback position, where just three (3) players have not missed a snap. That short list is comprised of Tim Jennings (Chicago Bears), Cortland Finnegan (St. Louis Rams) and Antoine Cason, who is in his contract year with the San Diego Chargers.
