Open Thread: San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns, Second Half

Ron Schwane-US PRESSWIRE

The San Diego Chargers played a terrible half of football but, somehow, are only down 7-3 to the Cleveland Browns at halftime.

What an embarrassing half of football that was for the San Diego Chargers. In Cleveland, dealing with the wintry elements, the offense and defense looked anything but impressive.

Philip Rivers has been able to avoid turning the ball over, but that's mostly due to luck. He's thrown two deep passes that should've been intercepted. Ryan Mathews looked good at times, behind a weak offensive line performance, until fumbling the ball. Based on the performance of the two-minute offense at the end of the half (against Cleveland's "prevent defense), it's a good bet that you'll see a lot more Ronnie Brown and passing in the second half.

Trent Richardson ran for 86 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Brandon Weeden avoided making mistakes, but hasn't made any plays either (despite no pass rush against him).

If the Chargers want to avoid a new "worst week in franchise history", they'll need to figure out their issues at halftime and come out looking like the better team.
