LT wants out of NY, considers retirement!

Via NFL.com, reports in a phone interview with a San Diego radio station that Ladanian Tomlinson wants out of NY and may consider retirement. Why not bring him back to SD where he stamped his ticket to the HOF! It would be great to see LT in Charger blue again and it deffinately could'nt hurt in the development of Ryan Mathews. Yes, I know LT has lost more than a step but there are other things to consider here: He is a Charger and forever will be (in my heart), he has a great work ethic, he is a veteran that knows the game better than most, he would inspire the Charger fans to be back in the seats for next year, we deffinately need a back that can catch out of the backfield and last but not least.......even at 32 he is still better than half the running backs in the leauge! So, come on rockhead (Smith) give the man a call! Thoughts?????

I love LT

but I think he burned too many bridges to make a return. I believe him when he says he wants to play for a contender and it’s not about money at this point . Bottom line: I think there is still hurt feelings and the chargers are not a contender right now.

I love LT too!

I’m not sure that LT burned the bridges as much as Smith did but don’t you agree that it would be the right thing to do for the Chargers to at least offer a return? LT gave his heart and soul to this organzation for 9 years and made them a contender. I would much rather see #21 on the field with the Bolts instead of just a 1 day sign and retirement.

Probably won't happen under AJ's watch.

While having him would be great for the fans, he probably wouldn’t want the role of 3rd RB on the depth chart, and even if Norv used him as a third down back, he’d probably have to lose some weight to regain some quickness. Even if he didn’t though, he’d be better than Tolbert is on 3rd down so maybe it wouldn’t be the worst idea considering drafting another RB wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense with so many other needs on the team…

move Tolbert bact to FB?

Both Hester and Tolbert are UFAs I think. Rather bring Tolbert back and he could play the FB position. Don’t know if anyone would give him a legitimate shot at HB.

Hester will cost less and is a better fullback.

Hopeful but realistic

I understand the biggest hurdle would be Smith (he booted him out in the first place) but I do think bringing LT back would do more for the Chargers than just adding another running back. The fans would love it and it woulld bring excitement back to this franchise. Norv could move Hester to special teams, put Tolbert at fullback and use him along with Mathews and LT as a 3 headed monster. Oposing defenses wouldnt know what to expect…..power up the middle, quickness on the edge or a rb/reciever/passer. I think it would work but I know its wishful thinking.

not seeing the three headed monster

LT is no longer a home run threat.

I wouldnt mind signing him though, as I am a huge LT fan and it couldnt hurt in the development of mathews. DIdnt mathews say LT was his favorite player?

Still… I doubt he will sign, doesn’t seem like a guy who wants to be 3rd in the depth chart.

There's also the fact that he just isn't very effective any more.

I love LT

And would love to see him back in a chargers jersey. He would be great to help Matthews learn how to become the type of back he once was. However better than half the backs in the league might be a bit of a stretch.

I'd have no issues with signing him

But would probably be a part time 3rd down back. How has his pass pro been in NY? Signing him at this point he is more of a mentor than a player. And though I think people went waaaaaaaay overboard questioning his leadership when he was on his way out of SD…..given the way he left I wonder if things are awkward at all with his former teammates.

LT Should retire as a Charger

I don’t see any room on the current roster for LT but when LT does retire I think it should be as a Charger. Despite his issues with AJ Smith I think the Chargers would want that to happen. LT did speak fondly of Dean Spanos when he left…..

I agree that LT isn't a major threat anymore, BUT.....

The Bolts (and AJ in particular) could use a little public relations boost right about now and LT could be what it takes. Chargers management isn’t exactly on the top of everyones popularity list and just having LT play one full season in a Bolts jersey could do alot to regain some sympathy for AJ, Norv and Deano. Just wishful thinking……

Bring him back and whatch the fireworks...

Every aging RB in the NFL has something to prove! LT has the fire still! As a true blue Charger fan AJ and Dean I BEG you to bring this guy back to put some lightning back in the bolts!

Shaky at best....

The draft looks shaky at best……what do we have to lose? A draft pick? (should have laid down for the Raiders) I would rather go through another 8-8 season with LT on our team than without!

LT Charger for Life!

They need to get him back and let him finish his career in SD! He did so much for the organization and helped the team become a playoff contender. It’s the right thing to do and it would be great PR!
