Recent rumblings out of Oakland point to the fact that if one team goes to the City of Angels, it will be the Raiders. Son of Al has stated openly that the current digs of the team are one notch above a toxic dump (which it is) and that the only thing needed to have him packing his bags is for AEG to sweeten the deal a bit. He has also been in talks with the 49'rs on a way to share their soon to be built new stadium, but both the Niners and the NFL have said that the logistics involved would make that scenario pretty unlikely.
So, is Mr. Davis Jr. serious about moving or is it just a threat to get a new stadium? I think he's very, very serious and I also think that the Raiders will once again become The Los Angeles Raiders as soon as 2013. While Oakland is the heart and soul of the Da Raiders, it isn't the wallet, and in the ego and money driven world of the NFL, big, fancy new stadiums equate to big incomes and future Super Bowls, which the Oakland Coliseum will never, ever see. Big Al didn't care but Little Al does. As for the Chargers, I look to see a deal for a new stadium/convention center to be finalized this year.
