ESPN came up with a new metric to rate quarterbacks, which they call the "Total Quarterback Rating".  For an explanation how the metric works you can click here.

Just wanted to see what smarter people than me think of their metrics.  I haven't had the chance to delve too deeply into their metric yet, but on the surface, there are rankings that cause me to seriously question their validity.

As a Charger fan, the most obvious problem I have with this statistic is that it rates Rivers as the 9th best QB last year, compared to Eli Manning (7th) and Matt Ryan (3rd).  The complete 2010 QB rankings are here.
