A Message from Los Angeles

To San Diego Chargers Fans:

I'm sure that there are plenty of panicked blog posts around here about a possible relocation of the Chargers to Los Angeles and I thought I should come on here to have a frank discussion about what may happen in the coming years. Let me make myself very clear, I believe that the Chargers belong in San Diego and should remain in that city (or county) for the foreseeable future. I am the founder of "Bring Back the Los Angeles Rams" and I (along with my fellow administrators) have been following the situation in Los Angeles for years now and I think that we have a decent idea about what may happen.

If the Chargers were going to relocate to Los Angeles, why hasn't it happened already? Mr. Ed Roski and the Spanos clan apparently have a close working relationship and Roski's Majestic Realty has had a shovel-ready proposal in the City of Industry (about 15 minutes away from downtown LA and Anaheim, east and north respectively). If the Chargers were going to supposedly greener pastures in Los Angeles, why didn't they accept what Roski has been offering for years now and move 80 miles up the freeway? I believe that they are truly trying to make it work in San Diego. Your fair city has been an excellent home to the Chargers since their failed one year stint in Los Angeles and I see no reason to believe that the Chargers won't be supported in San Diego for years to come.

Perhaps we are just finding ways in which the Rams will return to their rightful home up here in the City of Angels, but we truly believe that they have the best shot of relocating, not your beloved Chargers. If you look at the behind the scenes business relationships, it is clear that AEG (the group trying to build the stadium downtown next to Staples Center) and Stan Kroenke (the new owner of the Rams) are very close. There is no such connection between the Chargers management and AEG. The Rams also have a very long and rich history in Los Angeles/Orange County that no other team can match. With an out in the Rams lease coming up very soon with a very small penalty for moving, the Rams could return to their rightful home by the 2012 season and I would hope to all that is good, the Chargers to LA rumors would die at that point. There is no reason why a city like St. Louis should have a team that they poached from another city (with the help of a no-good bimbo—the nicest thing I can say about that woman), should keep its team that it doesn't support over San Diego—a city that has come out in support of its team through thick and thin.

Los Angeles clearly deserves a team, the Rams attendance figures during their 50 year stay in Southern California were one of the best in the NFL, but it has to be the right team. While LA has stolen its fair share of sports teams, 1995 marked the first time a team was stolen from us and we understand now how painful that can be and we don't wish that kind of pain on any other city (except for STL, of course). It would be hard for most of us to stand by and root for a team that we know ripped the hearts out of another city, especially if that city is only a few miles down the road. The Rams are clearly be best fit in Los Angeles because of the history and the fact that we would just be taking back what should not have been taken away in the first place. We are also 100% against a possible move of the Raiders to Los Angeles . . . something I am sure all Charger fans are against. They are a terrible fit in Southern California and were a distant #2 team to the Rams during the 1980s. The further away Raider Nation is from Southern California, the better.

I write all of this because I want to offer our collective support for any new stadium proposal that will keep the Chargers in San Diego where they belong and to try to gain support from those in San Diego for the Rams return to Los Angeles. I hope for the best when it comes to the Chargers and its loyal following in San Diego and if you would like to learn more about Bring Back the Los Angeles Rams and the history of the Rams in LA, please visit our website. I would like nothing more than there to be some sort of LA-SD alliance between both fan bases to promote what is best for both cities and the entire Southern California mega-region. We will continue to support a new San Diego stadium for the Chargers because it is what is best for the NFL and Southern California as a whole. I hope you all will support or effort because it would be great for the NFL (people love to hate LA teams) and SoCal as a whole. Hopefully one day, we will see the San Diego Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams take the field for an all-California showdown. Until then, good luck and may you keep your team well into the future.

Sincerely,

Andrew Hogan
