Looks like the mayor has decided to fight back against all the LA talk of late. He's taking a small team on an "informational tour" to several stadiums in Indy, KC, and Denver to get ideas on what "works" for downtown stadium districts. Members of the same team have already toured Dallas and New Jersey however they felt the scale of both stadiums was not applicable to a city like San Diego (duh...). Amazes me it took them 2500 bucks to figure that out (each). I could have told them that. Also amazes me they need to go do research on "what works." They need only look downtown in San Diego to understand what works. Just plop the darn stadium downtown and it'll work, there's already a working entertainment district down there around PETCO.
Obviously the real reason they're doing this is less about actually learning anything and more about publicly showing support for a stadium downtown to help back the denials Fabiani has been giving regarding moving to LA. So in that respect it's worthwhile I suppose. The full article is below.
