He's been cursed to play his first four seasons in the same conference with two future Hall of Famers at his position, but Weddle really isn't far off from the standards set by Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed. He doesn't have the signature hitting power of Polamalu or the otherworldly range of Reed, but he's a harder hitter than Reed and is better in coverage than Polamalu.

We need to sign Weddle!
Weddle not only has the stats to prove we should re-sign him, but he has the heart, tenacity, and leadership this team needs! I don’t understand why we haven’t signed him yet?! Bob Sanders will not fill that gap and Jammer is still a year or two away from switching to Safety position. I would be really sad to see Weddle go elsewhere
You stay classy San Diego
Weddle is shopping around as he should do for his own best interests. He can’t sign until Friday so there is no rush for him to agree to anything until then at the earliest. He’s probably just negotiating with other teams to figure out his market value the the Chargers should pay him… then it will be up to AJ to pony up the cash.
No back Rent
Probably the smartest move Rent Jax has made in a long time.
I don’t think he had much of a legal case for damages. Just about everyone thinks he was a victim of the system. A system he agreed to participate in. I think pushing it wouldn’t have yielded any upside for him, and might have garnered some hard feeling around the league.
It seems like he’s looking forward now. Too bad he couldn’t get there last year… He’d have another 2.7 million dollars in his bank account right now.
