Chargers by the (Jersey) Numbers: #92

Jason Fisk, DT

Scott Garnett, NT

David Griggs, OLB

Cedric Harden, DE

Dee Hardison, DE

Marques Harris, LB

Darren Mickell, DE

Eric Williams, LB

As we bid adieu to the 2011 Draft, #92 reminds us that sometimes choosing a Defensive End in the 1st Round is a (relatively) good thing.

The Winner

Burt Grossman, DE

Burt Grossman certainly wasn’t flashy by any respects.  Nor was he “quick” or “athletic,” but the Chargers had a need back in 1989, and they made Grossman their 1st Round selection, and 8th pick overall.

In 5 seasons with the Chargers, Grossman amassed 38 sacks – including double digit totals his first two seasons.  Pretty good for a guy whose name sounds like he should be nailing his Bar Mitzvah Torah reading rather than nailing Quarterbacks.  Score one Golden Jersey for the tribe!!
