Chargers: Playoff Hope?

With four games left and down by two games, the Chargers (5-7) are facing long odds. First, they need to win all their games in order to receive a decent chance to win the division. Secondly, they need two teams to fold, one of which with a five win streak. Even if the Chargers win all of their remaining games and have the Broncos (7-5) and Raiders (7-5) to lose two of their games; the Broncos are in a position to win a tiebreaker against the Chargers. However the chargers have a small possibility to beat the Raiders in a tiebreaker, only if they beat the Raiders on January 1st.

The Chargers have been in a worse position than the one they are in now during the 2008 season; when they were down three games with only four to play. But even then the Chargers had better odds in making the playoffs in 2008, because of their injured players that were returning and recovering. However, the Chargers won’t be receiving any more help this season and will have to make an almost impossible comeback with the team they have now.

The Chargers did manage to defeat their losing streak, even if it wasn’t against the best team in the NFL, and showed that they are still in the running for the division win.
