Injury Report: Green Bay Packers at San Diego Chargers

Photo

San Diego Chargers

Out
Luis Castillo, DE (Tibia)
Kris Dielman, LG (Concussion)

Doubtful
Shaun Phillips, OLB (Foot)

Questionable
Na'il Diggs, ILB (Knee)
Malcom Floyd, WR (Hip)
Ryan Mathews, RB (Groin)

Probable
Curtis Brinkley, RB (Concussion)
Antonio Gates, TE
Tyronne Green, G (Hand)
Vincent Jackson, WR (Hamstring)
Mike Tolbert, RB (Hamstring)

I think the record shows that Norv Turner has never let a player play that's been listed as "Doubtful", so Shaun Phillips is out. I'm glad to see that Mathews and Brinkley haven't been ruled out yet, because I've been hearing that they won't play.

Tyronne Green, who started in place of Kris Dielman against the Chiefs, broke his hand but is apparently playing through it with a cast. Brandyn Dombrowski has been getting some snaps at LG with the first-stringers in practice this week, so Green might not start or will at least have a short leash.

Green Bay Packers

Out
Chad Clifton, OT (Knee, Hamstring)
Mike Neal, DE (Knee)

Probable
Clay Matthews, OLB (Quadricep)
Josh Sitton, OG (Knee)
Morgan Burnett, S (Hand)
Jamari Lattimore, LB (Shoulder)
Sam Shields, CB (Concussion)
Frank Zombo, LB (Knee)

You always want to see the opposing LT miss the game, but against the Chargers it might not matter (especially without Phillips). The Packers are coming off of a bye week, so even the guys on the probable list should be counted on to play and be mostly healthy.

I don't think Brinkley is going to play

They seem REALLY hesitant to put him out there after a concussion last week. I imagine the NFL’s eyes are set right on their training staff after the Dielman seizure.

Brinkley practiced fully today I think.

Brinkley should get some reps this week

We are always on the edge of the couch when Tolbert has the ball. It could be a big crushing run or a fumble or and injury (or Tolbert’s helmet flying off). You never know. Brinkley needs to share some of the load.

Floyd was doubtful

Against the Broncos and played, hopefully Phillips can make it but I doubt it.

Brinkley passed

His concussion test FWIW . Mathews is brittle , plain pure and simple so we’d better get used to carrying more RBs than usual , unless our personnel dept wants to play the dum-dum game – that’s the game where you pretend to be dumber than you really are , which in this personnel dept might be hard to distinguish . As for the WRs , I still have trouble believing Laurent Robinson couldn’t make this team as a 3rd or 4th or even 5th WR , who made that call ? He’s at least on par Crayton and better than any of the other other nonstarters .
