    We need a metric for the impact of injuries ...

    Factors that might go into such a metric: importance of the position, quality of the player originally in that position at the start of the year, length of time the starter was out, quality of his backup, et cetera. It would be interesting to compare teams by this metric. I’d like to see how we compare to the Raiders, et cetera, in this regard. I know it’s not supposed to be an excuse, but it’s a big part of the game that we don’t measure right now. It might also be possible to tease out the impact and strength of the depth of roster and indirectly measure the performance of the GM. Just a thought.
