Visiting San Diego!
What up fellas, fellow sbn bloggers?
I'm headed to San Diego next month, to hopefully checkout the cardinals vs chargers game.
I say hopefuly because i dont want to buy tickets online and i doubt i could get tickets from the box office day of. I basically wanna show up at the stadiuim and find some tickets.
So i come here for a few questions:
Will it be easy to find "ticket sellers" near the stadium?
How much am i gonna drop, for any seats, i dont care? preferably the cheapest, for 2 seats?
Where should i park and how should can i get to the stadium?
ETC ETC ETC.
Please give me your best advice, and thanks for the help.

The Trolley is a good way to get there
And actually I’d avoid the scalper seen. There is a risk (I don’t how great) of counterfeits. I’d try the websites like Craigslist or StubHub, or the ticket agencies at least with those places you have options to do some research vs. taking whatever some guy is selling on the side of the road.
A lot of the people who post here have season tickets, so when you have the ticket in front of you posting the description on BFTB might be a good confirmation
I hope you have a great time in San Diego!
you were all so helpful. thx. nothing like charger fans.

Do you have any idea how many "out of towners" are in our stands week in week out?
Sometime it seems like there are more visiting team jereys in the stands than Chargers jerseys. A big part of this is just transplants, San Diego is a “good place to be” and many other cities are “good places to be from.”
Sorry the Charger fans aren’t better travel agents. We get these type of questions alot it gets old answering them over and over. Kinda like the Marty Schottenhiemer vs. Norv Turner question.
John maybe we should have and FAQ section.

You'll see plenty of scalpers standing on Friars road.
If you’re driving down Friars to the stadium park by the McDonalds, a few blocks down. You’ll see at least a half dozen scalpers in that area standing on the side of the road. I’ve even left my car at the Micky D’s to avoid the $25.00 parking fee (I know I’m a cheapskate), but take that advice at your own risk.
If you take the trolly, have someone direct to the Friars road entrance on the other side of the parking lot. Exit the parking lot, take a left and head toward the McDonalds, can’t miss ’em.
I’ve never bought tickets from a scalper but I have friends who do every time they go to the game, and they don’t pay much more than face value from what I understand.
Please don't read my signature.

Yeah, well, you don't pay San Diego rent on San Diego wages.

We can’t actually afford to go to the games… our entertainment budget goes to the same place as our heating and AC budget: rent in a place that’s never hot, never cold, and has a beach and mountains.

I'm not talking about me (well, okay, me too). It's just the way it is here.
People who live here pay about as much as a season ticket for great weather. It’s just factored into your costs. So if you don’t have a hobby that involves nice weather, you need the time and money for two $2k/50-hr hobbies in order to justify the season ticket. Anywhere you go, that’s going to be a smaller subset of the population. So you have a lot of football fans who take up barbecuing and watching football outdoors into the winter, and are happy to pay $2k and 50 hours to do it, but if they had to pay an extra $2k to do it at the stadium, it just isn’t worth it. Effectively, the cost of a season ticket is inflated if the time you spend going to football games could be spent doing some exclusively fair-weather activity you like instead. This isn’t enough for a lot of people to notice, because the cost of the weather is not the kind of thing San Diegans think about a lot, but it is enough to depress attendance significantly.

I'd avoid trying to park at any of the store in mission valley
Most of the business parks have spotters that watch who is using the lot to go to the game. Every home game is a tow truck bonanza. If you have to park find a spot on a city street and hop the trolley 1 or 2 stops. But on game days it is a fixed round trip price, regardless of how far you ride, so it just easier to get 4 or 5 stops out and avoid the Texas Street traffic jam. Actually I ride in from the East.
If you do intend to buy from a scalper, do not buy on the stadium grounds. It is against the law and they run stings all the time. Best to buy several blocks from the stadium, and guys usually pick high traffic street corners. You are probably alright buying from a scalper, but I wouldn’t.
San Diego is not without our own crime problems. And you don’t have to walk the streets of Tijuana at 2 am with your pockets turned out to get screwed (but it helps). You just have very little control or opportunity to avoid being swindled buying tickets a few minute before the event. Good luck with it.
