Bill Williamson at espn.com reports that Jackson and his agents were in fact able to come to terms on a contract with a new team, and one they had permission to talk to. However, the trade fell apart because that team and the Chargers were unable to come to terms on trade compensation. Re-commence to blaming AJ Smith.
