Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Game one performance in review.

Promising but potentially disappointing too.

Star-divide

Let's cut to the chase.  We lost that game because of special teams play.  KC could not sustain a drive against our defense, even though our defense was not dominant.  If we were successfull in scoring that last touchdown - it was a wrap and everyone in the stadium new it.  But here are some things that I noted.

Phillip Rivers:  He is a beast.  The mental toughness and ability to understand the defense and will the offense is getting on par with Peyton Manning

Ryan Matthews:  You GOTSTA hold onto the ball!  Nothing tremendously impressive but it does look like he will be capable of sustaining long drives on our behalf which means we can effectively close out games early in the 4th quarters.  I did like what I seen from the 2 carries from Tolbert though.  Dare I say he reminds me a little of Natrone Means?! (I know, I might be getting carried away).

Norv Turner:  Dude you did this same thing last year!  Darren Sproles is NOT a red zone running back!  Stop handing him the ball when we are inside the 10yard line!  Just Stop it!

Receivers:  Floyd was not what I was hoping for.  Hopefully this was just a bad game, with bad weather.  Nanee just might have something there.  Even without the 50+ touchdown play he was productive and caught the balls he should have (IMO).  Buster Davis may be a sleeper.  I seen some things outta him that leads me to believe that he might be a mis-match for some safeties/linebackers if we can get the right matchup.

Equipment manager:  You're FIRED!  How come it seemed like the only players slipping and sliding around were our players?  Could it be that we didn't have the right set of cleets for the weather conditions.  You do realize that on that last series that had Buster Davis not slipped and Malcolm Floyd not slipped that both of them passes would have resulted in the touchdown that we needed?!

Stephen Gregory:  Dude you never really impressed me but this game... dude you were all over the run game.

Did I mention that Phillip is a beast?

you forgot to add throw away the draw play, up the middle. and all running plays up the middle unless you’re in the I formation.

i have to agree with you about sproles in the redzone. if you moved up to get mathews he should have the ball done there.

The peanut gallery has spoken!!!
