Bleacherreport.com: Rivers is Overrated
Philip Rivers is by no means overrated. He's orchestrated a dozen career 4th quarter comebacks, triple digit QB ratings, and a 3 to 1 TD to INT ratio. Last night he had at least 6 catchable balls land on the soggy turf, and that's not his fault. Peyton Manning had even more catchable balls thrown that his receivers dropped, and it was Dry for their game. Either way, they can bite one hard for insulting one of the greatest QB's in the game today. He is if anything, underrated. His Pocket presence is second to none and his throws are excellent. He's immensely smart and tougher than any QB in the game today. Hurry up and agree with me in the comments.

Rivers is easily a top 3 QB
I hate him still though.

top 5 maybe ... definitely NOT overrated, the guy can flat-out play ...
scared the heck out of me and every other Chiefs fan last night … I was thinking “oh no, OT”

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
To be perfectly honest,
I didn’t expect a comeback win. Not to do with Rivers’ ability, but the receivers having been terrible all game. At least 6 catchable balls that were missed.

He did lead a comeback. It’s hardly the QB’s fault the receiver fell down .

I can't wait until Rivers wins a Super Bowl
Not that we didn’t already know a lot about Rivers, but I learned more about him on Monday night. The guy acted like he was the only player who KNEW the Chargers could get back in the game. Sitting at home, it’s probably hard to picture just how miserable it must have been in a deafening stadium, in the POURING rain, down by 14. Regardless, Rivers acted like he was going to win the game the entire time. He pretty much willed the team back to from the brink. If B. Davis doesn’t slip on the wet the Chargers tie it up, on first down.
Rivers looks ugly playing at times, but the dude is a stud. He was, by far, the best player on the field. He just does what it takes to win. In my mind, he did everything asked of him and more Monday night.
As for his ‘attitude’, I’m glad he yelled at the players and got pissed off. Norv’s not going to do it, that’s for sure. Rivers might as well bring the heat to his offense. The players clearly let the noise and the conditions get to them. Rivers expects more from the team and he sets the bar high. Good for him.
On a side note, the guy has nothing left to prove. For a guy who drives a minivan to work every day, he has more money than he’ll ever need in his life. He could put in neutral, he could avoid taking big hits, he could start thinking about where he wants to take his 27 kids to on vacation. In other words, he could pull a Jamarcus or a Haynesworth. But he doesn’t. He talks smack to 300 lb defensive lineman who want nothing more than to crush his bones, he tries to rally his team in the worst possible conditions, and he wants to win every single game.
Everyone hates him and that’s fine. They’re going to hate on him even more when he’s a Super Bowl MVP. It may or may not be this year. But he’s got what it takes to win it all, there’s no doubt in my mind.

Hard to call a guy over-rated
who throws for 300 yards in the rain, in a hostile stadium, on the road, and nearly mounts a huge come-back.
Not a very informed article at all.

No idea
Calling Rivers overrated it only shows absolutly no knowledge of the game, plain and simple.
What a bush league editorial
Rivers is clearly one of the top 5 QB’s in the NFL right now, and has been there for the past 3 seasons.
The guy has the biggest heart and helped lead SD to the AFC championship game against the Patriots………………………..where he played the game on a torn ACL despite having the knee scoped the weekend prior after beating Indy in Indy.
Back to back 4,000 yard seasons. Back to back 105 QB rating. Back to back 3 to 1 TD to interception ratio.
Basically by any statistical measure imaginable he’s top 5 if not better. As far as intangibles he is clearly fearless, will play hurt, never accepts that the team is out of a game, and works hard to get the most out of his abilities. He’s a winner plain and simple.
...also the NFL single season TD record
It could be a long time before someone breaks that record.

Huh? No, Brady has that.

But Rivers DOES have the career team scoring-average record among QBs with a full season of starts.

On his head, in the rain, with a 3-4 defense, 2 WR's and Darren Sproles
Who else can claim that?
6/10/2010 - Tra Thomas signs with the Chargers
8/21/2010 - Tra Thomas retires.
That was fast.
