Chargers Training Camp: The First Depth Chart!
The first Chargers depth chart, for this weekend's Bears game, is out. There's not a lot on here that's shocking, but there are more answers than questions. A few notes:
- Apparently CBD (Craig Buster Davis) is no longer allowed to return punts or kicks, because he's nowhere to be seen on that part of the depth chart. That's okay, I guess.
- The starting Nose Tackle for your San Diego Chargers? Antonio Garay! Good guy, funny guy.
- Starting DEs are Luis Castillo and.......Jacques Cesaire. That's going to make some people angry.
- For what it's worth, Mike Tolbert is listed as the third-string RB (ahead of Marcus Mason, Shawnbrey McNeal, etc.) and Jeremy Williams is listed above Seyi Ajirotutu at WR.
- Jacob Hester, your starting FB?
- In a bit of a shocker, Kris Wilson is listed as the 2nd TE above Randy McMichael. I wonder if this isn't because Randy went down with a minor injury in practice yesterday. Same with the FB situation.
- The star of last season's preseason defense, Kevin Burnett, gets the start over Brandon Siler.
The entire depth chart after the jump.

They seem to be fairly happy with the development of Jeremy Williams and Seyi Ajirotutu. Not looking good for Mr. “On the Fringe” Gary Banks though.
Buster off of the returns hopefully increases the chance he’ll be able to make it through a season without getting injured.
I love my team of historically talented underachievers.
interesting to see Stuckey ahead of Gregory
I thought it would happen eventually, but not quite yet

Agreed
I expected to see that by the end of the preseason but not already…maybe they just want to get him some snaps with the first team defense to see how he looks.
That was a little surprising
Hester #2 as a kick returner is a little strange too. Besides that it looks like I expected, glad that Holt is finally listed officially at ILB at least on this depth chart, dude is beyond beastly.
IMO
He’s done it before. He wasn’t terrible.

you guys
got a real winner in Stuckey. I was extremely angry when the chiefs took Areanus instead of the homegrown KCK kid.
I'd tell you to go to h**l but i work there, and i don't want to see you everyday!

I'm pretty content with our secondary
Excited to see our Safeties play. Expecting the Chargers to be top 5 in the league in fewer 20+ yard plays allowed this season.

Not reading much into any of this, personally.

I would expect to see McNeal
higher on the return duties list.

Tutu was being coached up yesterday.
I was at training camp Wednesday. I saw a lot of coaches paying particular attention to WR Seyi Ajirotutu. Maybe he was behind, or maybe they think a lot of him and want him on the field. He made some nice plays. Steve Gregory looked strong, that might be a position that flip-flops a few times.
I'll start by admitting that I'm a Denver fan...
..and I clearly haven’t followed your team close enough to know the details, but why doesn’t D. Sproles get more carries? How is it that an untested rookie is already getting the starting role over Sproles? He seems to torch the Broncos every time he’s on the field, and seems to have much more heart and drive than Tomlinson ever did. What kind of season do you expect him to have in 2010?
Just curious. Thanks.
