Broncos Defensive Backfield Deeper Than Ever? - Mile High Report
Last year's third ranked defense against the pass returns every starter from 2009, and has been characterized by the MSM as "growing long in the tooth". While this may be true in terms of the Broncos' starting defensive backs getting older, Denver has come well equipped with an infusion of youth in their defensive backfield, investing multiple high draft picks and a couple of lower picks on guys who will help this unit for years to come.

"Chargers fighting HD" by Bolts Bulletin
May is Huntington's Disease Awareness Month, and the San Diego Chapter of the HD Society of America had a press conference Tuesday at Chargers Park. The team (players, coaches and mostly the Spanos family) has been involved in the Johnstons' passionate fight against HD since Ramona was diagnosed 10 years ago.
Post-draft holes: AFC West - Bill Barnwell - ESPN Insider
Malcom Floyd inherited the starting job after Chris Chambers was released, but Floyd is a complementary target that doesn't have the "possession receiver" skill set the Chargers would love to add to their system. He's basically Vincent Jackson lite. The role would be an ideal spot for 2007 first-round pick Craig Davis to squeeze into, but Davis hasn't developed whatsoever during his first three seasons as a pro, and will likely be competing for a roster spot this summer.

My favorite part was where some idiot called Cromartie the Chargers’ best cornerback.

How about the part where Floyd
is knocked because he doesnt have “possession receiver skill set”? He’s V Jack light apparently.
IMO
yeah follhat
said it all right there.
Almost every time i have read their stuff i always disagree with at least one thing, and they usually seem really uninformed.

When I first read it
I thought that they were really selling Floyd short, but really I can’t disagree with what they said. It’s just that when he says that the Chargers would love to add a possession receiver, I’m not sure how high of a priority that actually is. I’m sure they want one and I’m sure Floyd isn’t one, but that doesn’t mean that the situation is anything more than, “you can’t always get what you want”.

In 3 WR sets
The Chargers use Gates as a possession receiver because they typically use a FB or H-back type instead of a true slot guy and a blocking TE when they go 3 wide. So in reality the Chargers have a pro bowl slot receiver who just so happens to be a in line blocking TE on running downs. That system is somewhat unique to the Chargers vertical game, and differs from the more common west coast based schemes.

Exactly why I'm not sure how high a priority it is to have a possession WR

He has a very similar skill set to V Jack
but he is not as good. Seems like V Jack light is not a bad way to describe him. And there is nothing wrong with being “V Jack light”.
Isn't Gates
the Chargers “possession receiver”?
