Reports indicate Chargers to lose Jamal Williams to Denver. Makes sense. Players he talked to last wk said he was ready 2 move on--ka

also a report that he will be visiting the Saints (they run a 4-3 so he is not bringing the most value to that D, denver makes more sense)

AJ was on the radio a couple hours ago
saying they’re trying to re-sign him.

So whats the plan?
So do Chargers have a plan this week all the way to draft time of any free agents we can pick up. We really need some OL and Defense in the next few weeks. I would really like to get some veterans to help our draftees learn right off the bat.

Aren’t there veterans already on the team?

What I don't understand
Is why players at the tail end of their career would even consider going to a team that has no real playoff hope next year.
I don’t think that Jamal has that much left in the tank, maybe a year or two. Why waste that time with the Broncos who probably won’t make playoffs next year. Saints I could perhaps understand. Why not sign a 2 year deal with SD and try to get them over the hump? Is it just a matter of money? He’s played for 12 years and already has more money than most people would ever dream of. Wouldn’t a possible superbowl be more satisfying?
Just my thoughts.
money. period.
While the Chargers have a better chance to win the SB next year than the Broncos, neither are guaranteed anything. Only thing that is for sure is up front money in the contract.

How much up front money would a club give to a 34 y/o NT with a major injury last year. Surely it would be similar to what SD is offering. Although he could be upset about being cut. He might go to Denver just to spite the chargers even if the offers are similar.
Shame to see him go. He would have been an exceptional mentor to a young NT.

While money is a major factor
I would not rule out the Broncos chances of going to the playoffs. If Jamal goes there and stays healthy, a big if, he improves those chances.
Wow, one of the few teams I didn't expect
but I guess it makes sense since they need a legit NT. Its just hard for me to even think about it since Denver is the team that cost him a season after one of the cheapest and dirtiest hits I’ve ever seen. (I think it was ’02 or ’03)
Can’t remember the player who did it, but I imagine not having Shanahan there helps though.
Great guy, met him a few times. I think someone told me he eats whole pizzas like burritos. Awesome.

AJ man I cant get on board with this.
You should have at least given the guy warning. I liked the tender of Sproles if it results in a trade or a decent longterm deal for the Chargers, I even thought it was funny to let him book visits to other clubs and everything.
But cutting Jwall an hour before he’s suppose to get his bonus wasnt the right way to go about this AJ. He should have been forewarned, he freakin earned that just like LT. And if you would have taken this approach then maybe he would have wanted to return.
Instead you cut him at the last minute, then say you want to resign him. Come on now. You better hope Jwall doesnt go to Denver or anywhere else and dominate otherwise your 2010 offseason will look like you were high.
